1st IPCA Open Individual Chess Championship for the Disabled, Rapid and Blitz -Shashikant Kutwal and Jennitha Anto Shine

In the recently concluded 1st IPCA Open Individual Chess Championship for the Disabled, Rapid and Blitz 2019 conducted by the  International Physically Disabled Chess Association and Chess School of Torrevieja which was held in Torrevieja,Spain from 21st November to 25th November 2019, IM Shashikant Kutwal and  WIM K. Jennitha Anto played spectacularly to bring home four medals, three golds and one bronze.

The tournament witnessed the participation of players from 9 countries, from Europe and Asia. IM Shashikant Kutwal and WIM K. Jennitha Anto were the two Indian players in the event.

The Blitz tournament was a double gold-medal haul for India as both IM Shashikant Kutwal and WIM K. Jennitha Anto secured 1st place with 8.0/9.0 in the men’s category  and WIM K. Jennitha Anto secured 1st place with 5.5/9.0 in the women’s category .

The Rapid tournament was also quite successful for the Indian contingent as WIM K. Jennitha Anto bagged the gold medal in the women’s category with 6.0/9.0 points while IM Shashikant Kutwal bagged the bronze medal in the men’s category with 6.5/9.0 points.
