35th MPL National Under13 Open Chess Championship and 35th National under 13 Girls Chess Championship held at Pondicherry from 10th to 18th December 2022 for a Prize fund of Rs 8 Lakhs.
This prestigious National Chess Championship with Eleven round Swiss format was organized very well by Pondicherry State Chess Association under the aegis All India Chess Federation & FIDE. The venue of the tournament was Amalorpavam Higher Secondary School A/c Indoor auditorium, Pondicherry.
The mega National event attracted 331 participants in Open section and 173 players in Girls section. Players from 27 States from all over India i.e., Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Andhra, Assam, Bihar, Chandigarh, Chattisgarh, Delhi, Goa,Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkand, Karnataka, Kerala, MadhyaPradesh, Maharastra, Odissa, Puduchery, Punjab, Rajastan, Tamilnadu, Telungana, Tripura,UttarPradesh, Utharkand, and West Bengal took part in this event.
Open category 255 Rated chess players and in Girls category 113 fide rated players were participated and made the events so stronger.
Shri S.A.Lourduswamy, Founder, Correspondent, Amalorpavam group of schools inaugurated the Championships by moving the coin in the presence of Thiru Embalam Selvam, Hon’ble Speaker of Legislative Assembly, Govt of Puducherry, Shri G.Sankar, President, Pondicherry State Chess Association at 9.30A.M on 11th December 2022.
Daaksin Arun of Tamilnadu scored 10 points and won the National Under13 Open Chess Championship and received cash prize of Rs 80,000 and a glittering Trophy.
Three players Daaevik Wadhawan of Delhi, Bharadia Yash of Rajastan and Dhruva Thota of Telungana were scored 9 points each and finished second to fourth respectively on tie break..
Sneha Halder of West Bengal scored 9.5 points and won the National Under 13 Girls Chess Championshi and receivedcash prize of Rs 80,000 and a glittering Trophy.
Four players Sachi Jain of Delhi, Saparya Ghosh of West Bengal, Shreya G Hipparagi of Maharastra and Bhat Sannidhi Ramakrishna of Maharastra were scored 8.5 points each and finished second to fifth respectively on tie breaks.
On the colorful Prize giving ceremony Shri G.Sankar, President, Pondicherry State Chess Association welcomed the gathering. Thiru Embalam Selvam, Hon’ble Speaker of Legislative Assembly, Govt of Puducherry distributed prizes along with Shri. Bharat Singh Chauhan, Chairman, Advisory Board, FIDE, Thiru K.Lakshmi Narayanan, Hon’ble Minister for Public Works Department, Govt of Puducherry, Thiru.Sai Saravanaan Kumar, Hon’ble Minister for Civil Supplies Consumer affairs and Shri S.A.Lourduswamy, Founder, Correspondent, Amalorpavam group of schools at 3.00pm on 18th December 2022.
