Muthaiah’s Win Helps India Hold Hungary

Fourth seed India held leaders and third seed Hungary in the fifth round of the World Youth Olympiad in Mongolia on August 24, 2015. Indians faced higher rated opponents on three boards and on top board, Aravindh drew Benjamin who also had 2505 identical rating. Vaishali lost with black on board two and C Sai Vishesh drew on board three with white.
The hero of the day for the Indians was Al Muthaiah who won against a higher rated opponent with the black pieces. Hungary maintains lead with nine points and are followed by India, Iran and Singapore with eight points. India face top seed Iran in round six. Hungary play Singapore. Iran beat Russia by 2½-1½ after losing on top board yet again. Five rounds remain to be played in this 10-round event.
