The Checkmate Covid Initiative has already managed to raise Rs 60 Lakhs since going live on May 4, 2021.
The launch event was held on the Chessbase India YouTube Channel. It was attended by dignitaries such as GM Viswanathan Anand, GM Koneru Humpy, FIDE President Arkady Dvorkovich, and many others.
AICF will be using the funds to support the Indian Chess community by providing players medical & home quarantine support & financial assistance for members who require hospitalisation. We have also set up a 24 Hour helpline to provide assistance.
Apart from the financial assistance, AICF will be providing medical guidance by a team of doctors especially for chess players who are under home quarantine. Furthermore, AICF has assigned State-level nodal officer for assistance. Also available is a 24 hrs medical helpline number and email address for an emergency.
