Gold medal eluded the Indians in the Asian Junior Chess Championships that ran from October 2-12 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. It was organised by the Kyrgyzstan Chess Federation.

“Our players S.L. Narayanan and Nandhidhaa missed gold medals narrowly,” reported International Master Lanka Ravi of Hyderabad to the All India Chess Federation.

IMG_20151011_173312The silver lining of our performance was that S.L. Narayanan (in the Open) and Ivana Furtado (in Girls) won silver medals. P.V. Nandhidhaa picked up the bronze medal.

Besides the classical controls, the event is held in rapid and blitz also. In the rapid, Parnali (Girls) and Chakravarthi Reddy (Open) won silver medals. Ivana Furtadi won the silver medal in the blitz section in girls.

Overall, it was a silver finish for the Indians in this edition.
