ROUND 9 REPORT World Junior Chess Championship 2022

GM Mendonca Leon Luke played a brilliant attacking game in the queenless endgame arising from Slav defence to win against Georgian IM Petriashvili Nikoloz. With this victory Leon moves 6.5 points in joint 3rd place following the leader GM Kozak Adam (7.5 points) and 2nd placed  IM Gadimbayli Abdulla (7points).

GM Iniyan P drew his game against IM Stoyanov Tsvetan from Bulgaria to move to 6points.

With 2 rounds left in the event, both the Indian GMs would be looking to finish well in order to have chances for a podium finish.

IM Prraneeth Vuppala suffered his first defeat of the tournament in the hands of the top seed GM Esipenko Andrey. Prraneeth stays on 5.5 points.

Meanwhile,in the Girls section, Ishvi Aggarwal drew her game to move on to 3.5 points while Femil Chelladurai lost her game to stay on 3 points.
