National Amateur Is On In Mumbai

The National Amateur Championship is in progress at Mumbai. A total of 255 players are competing. One round is complete and ten more rounds remain to be played.
The SBI Life 5th National Amateur Chess Championship is happening at Thakur College of Science and Commerce, Thakur Village, Kandivali (East) in Mumbai. The event is organised by the Indian Chess School. Praful Zaveri is the tournament director and IA I.G. Parmar is the chief arbiter.
The prize pool is Rs.100,000 and the event is for those rated below 2300 Elo,
The top seed is Ameya Audi of Goa with 2089. The event runs from Nov 5-11 and is a qualifier for the World Amateur at Spoleto, Italy from April 1-9, 2017.
