AICF Admin 11 months ago

With 11 rounds World Youth Chess Championship ended here in Florianopolis starting from 29th Oct but Indians had little disappointing performance as far as medals are concerned but as they were underrated many players have gained 80 rating points on an average.

Indians had two losses in the last round. Despite playing  good tournament and having great first half, Mruttika Mallick could not keep up the tempo and lost last two rounds. Jihan Sha also lost his last round. Viresh Sharnarthi won his last game to increase 70 rating points and Abheek Bhatt also won to increase 125 points. This performance shows that truly Indians are underrated but this team need some more hard work to finish podium.

Samyak Dharewa and Shreya Hipparagi were best Indian scorer with 7 points. Samyak scored 3.5 points in the last 4 games to increase 125 rating totally.

Shreya Hipparagi came 6th in the Blitz Chess Championship which was conducted on the Blitz day and was awarded Medal yesterday.
