The MPL 59th Senior National Chess Championship 2022, was organized by Delhi Chess Association at Indira Gandhi Sports Complex, Near ITO, New Delhi from 22nd December 2022 to 03rd January 2023. The venue was spacious and well ventilated.
The event attracted a total number of 200 players from 30 States and 5 Affiliated Units of the country. There were 18 Grandmasters 27 International Masters, 12 Fide Masters and 8 Candidate Masters participating in this event. The top seed of the event was Grandmaster Sethuraman SP with a FIDE Rating of 2642.
After the end of the 13th round Grandmaster Karthik Venkataraman 2503 of Andhra Pradesh emerged as the Champion with 10 points, Grandmaster Abhijeet Gupta 2601 of PSPB stood First Runner Up and Grandmaster Visakh N R 2544 of RSPB stood as Second Runner Up.
IM Koustav Chatterjee 2508 of West Bengal scored 9 points and secured his Final Grandmaster Norm, Hari Madhavan N B of Tamil Nadu and Subhayan Kundu of West Bengal secured their International Master Norms.

During this Chess Championship the work of all the Arbiters was up to the mark and Norm Certificates were given to FA Naresh Sharma, FA Atul Mishra, FA Rahul Chamoli, FA Arun Kumar G, FA Tapi Shah and FA Anupam Chatterjee.
At the Closing ceremony Chief Guest Shri. Bharat Singh Chauhan (Chairman FIDE Advisory Committee and Deputy President of Asian Chess Federation) distributed prizes to all the prize winners.
