All India Chess Federation (AICF), in collaboration with the Mizoram Chess Association, organized a Grandmaster Coaching Camp in Aizawl, Mizoram. The camp was conducted by Grandmaster Ankit Rajpara, making it a historic moment as it was the first time a Grandmaster-led camp was held in the state. The event aimed to inspire and enhance the skills of budding chess players, promoting the game’s growth in this emerging chess region.
Participation
The camp witnessed an enthusiastic turnout, with around 20 participants actively engaging over the 5-day event. Grandmaster Ankit Rajpara’s interactive teaching methods and focus on individual improvement drew positive responses from all participants. This highlighted the rising interest in chess within Mizoram and the eagerness of local players to learn from a Grandmaster.

The camp provided a comprehensive training experience, covering both theoretical and practical aspects of chess. Key areas of focus included:

Practical elements of chess were discussed, including:
- Managing time-trouble effectively during games.
- Making confident decisions when uncertain about the best move.
5. Self-Improvement Guidance:
Strategies for independent learning were shared, emphasizing the importance of consistent self-work. Participants were introduced to online resources and tools to enhance their preparation and overall game development.
Conclusion
GM Chess Camp in Aizawl, Mizoram 2024 was a resounding success, offering participants a unique opportunity to learn from Grandmaster Ankit Rajpara and deepen their understanding of the game.
