Online Olympiad – India through to the quarter final as pool topper

Defending champions India topped the Pool B and moved to the Quarter Final of the Online FIDE World Chess Olympiad on Friday with a clean sheet of 7 wins and 2 draws at Top Division league matches.

Indian team consists of legendary Viswanathan Anand, P Harikrishna, Vidit Santosh Gujarathi, B Adhiban, Koneru Humpy, D Harika, Tania Sachdev, Bhakti Kulkarni, Nihal Sarin, R Praggnandhaa, Vaishali R and Savith Shri B registered victories against Hungary, Azerbaijan, Shenzhen China, Sweden, Belarus, Moldova  & Egypt while signed the peace treaty with France and Slovenia to assimilate a total score of 16 match points.  Hungary qualified as second team from this pool with 15 points.

Except Koneru Humpy, D Harika and P Harikrishna, rest India players centrally playing from Taj Coromandel Chennai with the support of Microsense Networks Pvt Ltd as sponsors.

In the quarter final on Monday, India will take on Ukraine while Hungary will play with last edition joint winner Russia. In other quarter final matches, Kazakhstan, who finished head China in the Pool A is pitted against USA while China will play against Poland.
