Report :FIDE Trainers Seminar in Ahmedabad from18th to 20th October 2024

The FIDE Trainers’ Seminar held in Ahmedabad from 18th to 20th October 2024 was a significant milestone for chess coaching in India. Organized by the All India Chess Federation (AICF) with support from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) and supervised by the FIDE Trainers’ Commission, the seminar attracted 44 participants from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu.

Held at GSC Bank, Sahakar Bhavan, Ahmedabad, the venue provided an ideal setting for intensive learning sessions. The seminar was led by two prominent figures in Indian chess: FST GM Tejas Bakre, the Chief Lecturer, and FT GM Ankit Rajpara, the Assistant Lecturer. Together, they guided the participants through advanced coaching methods and training techniques.

Mr. Dev Patel, Secretary of AICF, attended one of the sessions as a special guest, offering his encouragement and emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in the growth of chess in India.

Participants completed an exam at the end of the seminar, and their performance will determine their eligibility for various trainer titles, adding to their professional credentials. This initiative, part of AICF’s broader efforts to enhance chess education, is expected to bolster the country’s standing on the global chess scene by preparing a new generation of highly skilled trainers
