Salem District Chess Association, on behalf of Tamil Nadu State Chess Association and All India Chess Federation organised a Senior National Arbiter Seminar & Examination at Narasu’ Sarathy Institute of Technology on 11th and 12th December. Forty aspiring arbiters from Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka participated in the event. Prof. R. Anantharam IA and FIDE lecturer and Mr. MS Gopakumar IA and FIDE lecturer were the lecturers.

Mr. Anantharam handled the topics on Laws of Chess, tiebreaks, tournament rules, Arbiter regulations and Swiss pairings on the first day and Mr. Gopakumar delivered lectures on rating regulations, title regulations and anti-cheating on the second day. Examination was held on the evening of the second day. The college management was generous in providing free food and accommodation to all the participants. Mr. Arun, Secretary of Salem District Chess Association, Mr. Palaniappan IA the coordinator and Mr. Sivasubramanian made elaborate arrangements for the successful organisation.

All the passed participants (A & B grade) are required to be registered with AICF as Arbiter as well as get their FIDE License prior to officiating in any FIDE rated event. All the participants achieved A & B Grade are eligible for SNA title and National Arbiter License from FIDE. They must be licensed before officiating in any FIDE Rated event or attending FIDE Arbiter Seminar.  To get NA License please pay an amount of Rs. 3210/- at https://prs.aicf.in/pay and intimate the details (Name, FIDE ID and Screenshot of payment) by email to indianchessfed@gmail.com. Those achieved C & D grade will be awarded NA title and eligible to officiate all events except Fide rated ones. Participants who doesn’t have FIDE ID are requested to complete their AICF registration first (https://prs.aicf.in/new-register) and obtain FIDE ID before processing the SNA License.
