10 Medals for India – FIDE online World Cadet & Youth Rapid event 2020

Iniyan & Pranav strike Gold, India top medals tally
 
Grandmaster Iniyan P won the Gold medal in the Under 18 Open category after 7th and final round in the ASIAN CONTINENTAL SELECTION, FIDE ONLINE WORLD UNDER 10-18 RAPID CHAMPIONSHIPS 2020. This three day FIDE qualifier concluded on 13th December, 2020. Second Gold for India came from Pranav V in the Under 14 Open section, where top seed International Master Aditya Mittal took the Silver.
With 10 medals, consisting of two Golds, six Silver and two Bronze India finished on top of the table, as the most successful team. China came second with two Golds and six medals followed by Iran, two Golds and six medals, in the third place.
GM Iniyan P with four wins and five draws logged in 5.5/7 to snatch the Gold in the Open Under 18 section. With a similar score, IM Sankalp Gupta tied for the top spot, but settled for Silver under tie-break.Pranav V with 6/6 start confirmed his Gold with a round to spare. IM Aditya Mittal brought down the leader in the final round, assuring himself and India of another Silver with 5.5/7 performance.

Indian duo IM Raja Rithvik R & Aakash G narrowly missed out on the medal finishing fourth in the Open Under 16 & Open Under 10 category respectively. In the Under 14 Girls section WFM Sahithi Varshini M finished fourth missing out on a medal.

IM Sankalp Gupta   – Open Under 18
IM Aditya Mittal   – Open Under 14
Mrinmoy Rajkhowa   – Open Under 10
WFM Jyothsna L     – Girls Under 16
Mrittika Mallick   – Girls Under 12
Shreya G Hipparagi – Girls Under 10

Bronze :

WIM Priyanka Nutakki – Girls Under 18
WIM Rakshitta Ravi   – Girls Under 16

As per FIDE online tournament regulations, standings are provisional. They will be finalized after the fair play control has been completed.
