6th Thrissur FIDE Rated Chess Tournament-2013

Thrissur (24/04/2013) :- The 6th edition of prestigious Thrissur FIDE Rated Chess Tournament got off to a rousing start here at Lakshmi Mandapam on Wednesday. 265 players from across India participating in this 9 round Swiss System tournament.

International Master Stany GA of Airport Authority of India started as top seed in this Rs. 2.5 lakh and Winner of this edition of the evnet will pocket a cash prize of Rs. 50,000/-. Presence of former National Champion International Master P Konguvel, World age group championship M Mahalakshmi of Tamilnadu and N Priyanka of Andhra Pradesh adding colour to this five day tournament.

Earlier in a colourful opening ceremony, Shri. D V Sundar, Vice President World Chess Federation inaugurated the event along with Shri. Bharat Singh, Secretary All India Chess Federation. Presence of former Kerala speaker Shri. Therambil Ramakrishnan MLA, Shri. Babu M Pallissery MLA and Shri. S Gopinath IPS Inspector General Thrissur range added glamour to the opening ceremony.
