World Youth Chess Championships 2018—Greece

There were two rounds scheduled on 22nd October at the 2018 World Youth Chess Championships. The 2nd round was at 10 AM and 3rd round began at 5 PM. It was a mixed day for all Indians in all categories.
Sankalp Gupta, playing Under 16 Open group, won all three games and leading with other 4 players from Belarus, Uzbekistan, Norway and Armenia. Sankalp with white pieces played against Gavrilescu David Romania third seed of the group played a combinational game and won a pawn in early stage of the game. He later converted with a fluent technique to pocket the full point.
Saina Salonika made a quick win over higher-rated WFM Getman Tatyana of Russia in just 2 hours. She now shares the lead with five other players.
Sakshi Chitlange won both games of the day against Nass Haraof Norway and Hng Mei-En Emmanuelle of Singapore respectively. In the fourth round, Sakshi will be fighting against the top seed of the event WIM Shuvalova Polina (2421) of Russia.
In other groups, FM Kushagra Mohan held the top seed to a draw. In Under 14 girls section lone WIM Divya Deshmukh of India suffered a defeat in hands of WFM Kamalidenova Meruert of Kazaksthan.
