National Junior Championship-Mitraba Guha leads

With the tournament nearing the halfway-mark,IM Mitraba Guha has taken the sole lead in the National Junior Chess Championship.
Mitraba Guha of West Bengal defeated Nitish Belurkar of Goa in the 5th round to take the sole lead with a perfect scor of 5.0/5.0.
On the top board,in a complicated struggle, Nitish playing had the advantage but an incorrect decision to take his king out in the open turned the tables and black played well to score a full point.

On board 2, IM Koustav Chatterjee of West bengal got the better of FM Jeet Jain of Gujarat.
Jeet accepted a pawn sacrifice by Koustav which backfired and gave white a huge kingside attack that Koustav executed well to score a victory.

On board 3, IM Rajdeep Sarkar of West Bengal defeated Sibi Visal R of Tamil Nadu.
Rajdeep displayed good technique to outplay Sibi in a Rook and opposite colored Bishop Endgame.

Girls Category
The top two boards of the girls section were quick draws.
The third board witnessed an interesting encounter between top seed Arushi Kotwal of Jharkhand and WIM Priyanka Nutakki of Andhra Pradesh.
Priyanka, playing with the black pieces launched a kingside attack and even though white managed to survive,she eventually blundered a bishop and black managed to convert the extra piece into a full point quite easily.

On board 4, Vishwa Shah of Maharashtra caused an upset by beating her much higher rated opponent and state mate,WIM Sakshi Chitlange.
Sakshi playing with the Black pieces made an incorrect piece sacrifice which was correctly refuted by Vishwa with a counterattack against the king.
