India Win 3.5-0.5 Versus MGL Team A
By Arvind Aaron

Defending champions India decimated one of the better Mongolian teams 3.5-0.5 in the eighth round of the World Youth Chess Olympiad in Mongolia on August 26, 2015.

C Sai Vishwesh drew with an opponent rated 603 Elo below him and that should be a cause of worry for him. Vaishali who was upgraded to the first board, Parab Ritviz and Al Muthaiah were the winners of the day for India.

Iran leads with 14 points after seven wins and a defeat. India, Russia and Hungary are sharing the second spot with 12 points. India face Mongolia in the ninth and penultimate round with white pieces on boards one and three.

Indian scorers so far: Aravindh 5/7, Vaishali 6/8, Sai Vishwesh 5/8, Parab Ritviz 3/4, Al Muthaiah 4/5. In rating terms, Vaishali and Muthaiah have done well.

India can still win the last two and try to catch up with Iran. A lot will depend on Aravindh and Vaishali for us to get gold. India has won five matches, drawn two and lost one badly. Last two games will decide our medal colour.
