In the last version of Asian Youth Chess Championship, the Blitz Championship, India bagged 5 Gold, 2 Silver and a Bronze here today in Bali, Indonesia.
The Girls U-8 Gold won by Charvi A on better tie break as the eventual Silver Medal winner Tselmuun Ider of Mongolia and her team Indian mate Bronze medal winner Samhita Pungavanam all tied with six points each. The third member of the team Pooja Shree R finished fourth with 5 points but her effort helped the team to bag the Blitz team Gold for India.
In the boys section of U-8 category, Rahul Ramakrishnan won the Gold Medal for India by securing 6 points, finishing ahead of the rest of the field by half a point.
The Indian dominance continued in the Boys ategory of U-10. Madhvendra Pratap Sharma won his third Individual Gold, earlier he won both the Rapid and standard event, The trio, Madhvendra, Vivaan Vishal Shah and Dolash Aarush, bagged the third team winners trophy as well for India. Vivaan got Silver due to less tiebreak point to Madhvendra.
The Under 12 Open category Gold went to Ethan Vaz of India who had a score of 6.5 points, half a point ahead of the Silver and Bronze Medalist Nguen Vuong Tung Lam of Vietnam and Mohammadian Sechani Arshia of Iran.
Indian Girl Mrittika Mallick won Silver Medal on better tiebreak to Bronze Medalist of Girls U-14 category, Herfesa Shafira Devi of Indonesia. The Gold went to Nguyen Vinh Vy of Vietnam.
The fifth Gold came in the form of Bhagyashree Patil of India when she bagged the U-18 Girls category Gold. She scored six points and was ahead by one point to her nearest rival.
