49th National Sub Junior Open and 40th National Sub Junior Girls Chess Championship 2024 jointly organised by Ananthi Chess Academy and Viyugam Chess Academy on behalf of Tamil Nadu State Chess Association under the aegis of All India Chess Federation from 3rd to 11th November 2024 at Adhiyamaan College of Engineering, Hosur, Krishnagiri District. Tamil Nadu. The Championship was inaugurated by Chief Guest, Hon. D V Sundar, Former Vice President, FIDE. Mr Stephen Balasamy, Secretary, Tamil Nadu State Chess Association, Mr Jayapala Chandady, Founder president of Krishnagiri District Chess Association, Mr Murugavel, Vice President, TNSCA, Prof R Anantharam, Vice President, TNSCA, Mr R Srinivasan, Treasurer, TNSCA, Mr P Rajasekaran, Joint Sec, TNSCA, Mr Uma Maheswaran, Secretary, MDCC, Mr Murukaananth, Secretary, TDCDA, Mr Lokesh N, Organising Secretary and Mr Pragadesh P, Tournament Director were on the dais.
The Championship was organised in a spacious indoor stadium with proper ventilation and good amenities. Parents and accompanying person were provided enough seating facilities and also may power points to charge their mobile phones and laptops.
288 Players from all the states were participated in the 49th National Sub Junior Open Chess Championship 2024, IM Ilamparthi A R (2457) from Tamilnadu was the top seed followed by IM Vaz Ethan (2370) from Goa, Sriram Adarsh Uppala (2368) from Telangana. Out of 288 players, 270 were rated players.
162 Players from all the states were participated in the 40th National Sub Junior Girls Chess Championship 2024, WFM Sachi Jain (2050) from Delhi was top seed followed by Jeevika S (2047) from Pondichéry, WCM Arshiya Das (2030) from Tripura and Divya Patil (1975) from Maharashtra.
In the open category, Top seed, IM Ilamparthi A R from Tamil Nadu and 2nd seed IM Vaz Ethan from Goa Scored 9.5 points each, based on the better tie break score, IM IM Ilamparthi A R emerges as champion. Sherla Prathamesh from Maharashtra and CM Madhvendra Pratap Sharma from Madya Pradesh scored 9 points each. They were placed on3rd and 4th based on tie break scores.
In the Girls category, 7th seed WCM Prishita Gupta from Delhi scored 9.5 and emerges as Champion. 23rd seed Ashita Jain from Gujrat, 8th seed WFM Saparya Ghosh from West Bengal and 12th seed Ananya Raman from Tamil Nadu score 8.5 points and placed 2nd to 4th based on better tie break scores.
Dr Radhakrishnan R, Principal, Adhiyamaan college of engineering was the Chief Guest for the prize distribution ceremony. Dr . Dhanasekaran, Dean, ,Industrial realations, Adhiyamaan college of engineering, Mr Yuvachandran S, Vice president, Krishnagiri district chess Association, Mr Pragadesh P, Tournament director, Mr Narayanan, Managing Director, Narayana polymers, Mr Uma Maheshwaran, Secretary, Madurai district chess circle, Mr Murukaananth A, Secretary, Tirunelveli district chess development association, Mr Lokesh N, Oraganising Secretary were the other dignitaries on the dais.
IA Deepak Kumar Narendra, IA Anandh Babu V L, IA Uma Maheswaran P, IA Murukaananth A, FA Kunjumon P V, SNA Renga Raj P , SNA Subhapriya S, SNA Visalatchi M and SNA Kayalvizhi Kayal were the team of Arbiters who conducted the championship in smooth way.
IA Upalavikar Pornima and IA Arun Kumar G served as the Fair Play Arbiters, systematically managing the implementation of fair play regulations.
