The top board witnessed a Petroff Défense and white deviated with 9.h3 and he got a slight advantage but his 14 Re1 was inaccurate as it allowed black to simplify with 14…Ned4 after which the game was balanced till the end.
On the 4th Board IM S Aswath had a heart-breaking loss as he squandered a big advantage on move 36 Re1? Which allowed black to push the pawn to c3 and have sufficient counterplay. White continued ambitiously and played for a win and overstepped with 38 g4?? After which black took advantage and won the game in 50 moves.
