Carnival Cinemas signs MoU with the All India Chess Federation for promoting and developing the sport in the country

Mumbai, 28th December, 2017: Carnival Cinemas, one of India’s largest and fastest growing multiplex chain goes ‘Beyond Cinemas’ and is poised to change the movie going experience. Carnival Cinemas has signed an MoU with the AICF (All India Chess Federation) to promote and develop chess at its locations, an interesting educative platform for the patrons of all ages, especially for the kids with diverse interests. This initiative will commence in more than 50 Carnival Cinemas across the country.

Carnival Cinemas has been gaining popularity amongst its patrons by introducing diverse edutainment engagement activities. In India, especially tier 2 and 3 cities sport avenues are limited and sometimes inaccessible to masses. By providing its platform to promote Chess, Carnival Cinemas would be bringing local communities together and adding value in their lives.

While, there are multiple platforms which do allow chess players and enthusiasts to play at events and tournaments held across the country; Carnival is leaving no stone unturned in providing innovative edutainment avenues to its patrons, especially kids visiting multiplexes by bringing the board game to multiplex.

To further promote this unique initiative and bringing people closer to the sport, AICF would be inviting its local Chess heroes to engage with Carnival Cinemas patrons. As well as to create further awareness ‘Grand Masters’ and ‘Renowned Sports Personalities’ would be visiting at regular intervals.

Speaking about this exclusive collaboration, Mr P.V. Sunil, Managing Director, Carnival Cinemas said, “Carnival Cinemas aims to change the movie watching experience by providing continuous edutainment activities especially in tier 2 & 3 cities where there are moderate avenues of entertainment. We are delighted to collaborate with AICF to promote and mobilise the presence of chess and our objective is to add value to our patron’s life. We want to bring out the talent at various levels and to make this game popular amongst youth so that they could master the game under the right supervision and India could produce more grand masters.”

On this association, Mr Bharat Singh Chauhan, Hon. Secretary, AICF said, “We welcome Carnival Cinemas on board to promote and develop games as an interactive educative platform for kids with diverse interests. Carnival Cinemas is the fastest growing Cinema chain in the country; it has enormous potential to develop Chess as one of the important board games as a fun learning for kids as it significantly improves children’s visual memory, attention span, and spatial-reasoning ability. We look forward to this association with Carnival Cinemas and already see a huge potential to create more fun and educative platforms like this in future”.

Movie theatres are entertainment place and a community centre for people. In tier 2 & 3 cities movie theatres is one of the key sources of entertainment. Chess Board game will serve as a novelty form of engagement to all its patrons.
