Final report of 2nd National Schools Team Under 12 and Under 18 Chess.

The 2nd National Schools Team Chess Championship took place over three days at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Guwahati, Assam, featuring two categories: Under 12 and Under 18. Schools from across India participated, with 27 teams competing in the Under 12 category and 34 teams in the Under 18 category.

The championship was inaugurated on 12th August at 10:00 AM, attended by notable dignitaries including Shri K.J. Hilaly (Sports Secretary of Assam), Shri Prodip Timung (Director of Sports), Shri Mukuta Deka (Deputy Chairman GMDA), Shri Kandarpa Kalita (President of the All Assam Chess Association), and Shri Rajib Dhar (Secretary of the All Assam Chess Association).

A total of nine rounds were played in both categories. After intense competition, the following teams emerged as champions:

  • Under 12 Champion: Velammal Vidyalaya Paruthipattu
  • Under 18 Champion: Velammal MHSS Mugappair

The tournament was well-organized, with players displaying great sportsmanship and enthusiasm throughout the event.

The prize distribution ceremony took place on 14th August at 6:00 PM, with the same distinguished guests who graced the inauguration, namely Shri K.J. Hilaly, Shri Prodip Timung, Shri Mukuta Deka, Shri Kandarpa Kalita, and Shri Rajib Dhar. The event was a resounding success, celebrating the spirit of chess and fostering young talent across India.
