Harikrishna Moves To No.17 In The World

Former world junior champion Pentala Harikrishna of Hyderabad has moved from 2733 to 2740 to occupy the 17th place.

Former five time world champion Viswanathan Anand did not have any rating activity in July and stayed on 2816 to occupy the second place behind Magnus Carlsen of Norway.

Harikrishna, born, May 10 1996 is at his all-time high placing in the World raking list of August 2015. Harikrishna gained his rating points in the Edmonton International in Canada.

Vaishali who won the National Women’s Challengers and the National Junior Girls in Dindigul yesterday is the other player to impress and climb up. She is inside the Indian top 10 (women) for the first time. She is now trained by R.B. Ramesh.

Judit Polgar who turned 39 in July became the No.1 ranked without playing a single game. Hou Yifan slipped below the 2675 rating of Polgar who retired after the Tromso Olympiad last year.

Wesley So has a firm place in the top ten after the marathon win against Kramnik in Dortmund. There are more Americans in the world top ten than Russians!
