IM Raja Rithvik stuns top-seeded GM Boris Savchenko

Tetrasoft Hyderabad Marriott  1st International GRAND MASTER (Above 1700) CHESS TOURNAMENT – 2019

At the end of fifth round, IM Triapishko Alexandr of Russia emerged sole leader of the Tetrasoft Marriott Grandmaster tournament by scoring 5 points. The tournament which is underway in  J.W Mariott, Hyderabad, witnessed local youngest IM Raja Rithvik defeating the top seed GM Savchenko Boris of Russia.

On 3rd board, IM Raja Rithvik R opened the game with Nf3 and the higher-rated GM Savchenko Boris of Russia replied with d6. On 45th move Black’s move Be4 proved to be a costly error.  Savchenko resigned on 60th move.

On 1st board, IM Triapishko Alexandr of Russia opened with King’s pawn at e4. His opponent GM Karthikeyan P. of Tamil Nadu replied with g6 (modern) defence. The game was roughly equal until, Black’s move 64.. Rxe3 favored White.
