India downs Costa Rica

The Indian Men team had another easy day in the office as they outwitted Costa Rica in the second round of the ongoing 42nd World Chess Olympiad at Baku, Azerbaijan on Saturday.
India rested their top board player P Harikrishna for the second round also but not given any chance to their North American rivals to score 4 – 0 victory. On top board B Adhiban defeated IM Sergio Minero Pineda while Vidit Gujarathi, Sethuraman S P and Karthikeyan Murali got better off GM Bernal Gonzalez Acosta, IM Leonardo Valdes Romero and IM Alexis Murillo Tsijli without much struggle.
Meanwhile in the Women category, India rested Padmini Rout for the second round to beat Brazil with 3-1 margin. Tania Sachdev beat Julia Alboredo while Soumya Swaminathan had an easy outing against Suzana Chang and Pratyusha Bodda made short work of Kathie Goulart Librelato.
India got a minor setback in this round as top board player Dronavalli Harika, playing her first match in this Olympiad suffered a shock defeat on time against WIM Juliana Sayumi Terao in a complete winning position.
In the third round, India Men team takes on host Azerbaijan B team while Women are paired against Philippines.
