Jaganathan Brothers lifted first two prizes of Bikaner GM Category B while Sanskruti and Polturi create waves

1st Bikaner Open International Grandmasters’ Chess Tournament 2022 (Category B) organized by the
RAJASTHAN CHESS ASSOCIATION was concluded on 5th Oct 2022, at the Banquet Hall of Ashirwad
Bhawan in Bikaner. Jaganathan Brothers Dinesh Kumar (18) and his elder Kishore Kumar (20) lifted the
first two prizes – Rs one lakh and Rs 75,000/-. Shri B.D. Kalla, Minister of Education of Rajasthan was the
Chief Guest of the Closing Ceremony. Shri Mahaveer Ranka, President of Rajasthan Chess Association
presided over the function. Shri Dharmendra Kumar, Chief Arbiter of the Tournament and Chairman of
Arbiters’ Commission of India, Judge Mahesh ji Sharma, Advocate S L Harsh, Tournament Director and
Narendra Sreemali, Deputy Chief Arbiter were present in the prize distribution ceremony.
Third and fourth prize of Rs 65,000/- and Rs 50,000/- went to AJAY VIRWANI, and NIRGUN KEVAL, while
RUPESH REDDY Y and RUPAM MUKHERJEE lifted the fifth and sixth prize of Rs 45,000/ and 30,000/-
respectively. DAKSH GOYAL won the seventh spot – Rs 25,000/- while SANSKRUTI WANKHADE and
POTLURI SUPREETHA stood 8th and 9th in the final ranking winning Rs 20,000/- and Rs 18,000- in the first
GM International of Bikaner Category B, which was a Rs 10 Lakh prize money Tournament. These two
youngster raised much expectations on their future possibilities.
Shailesh Gupta became the best unrated and below 1199, while Ramandeep Singh Gill won the first
prize of Below 1399 category. Darsh Shetty and Sarvade Mihir won the first positions of Below 1599 and
Below 1799 respectively. Rajanya Dutta got the best women player award whereas J M Baisakh and
Shahid Azmat got the first prizes of below 55 and below 60 category. Sher Singh was awarded the best
Bikaner prize whereas SK Rathore, Manoj Sanghvi and Vaibhav Gautam won the firth three positions of
Special Category.
Arbiters IA Soundaramurthy D, FA Puneet Jaiswal, FA Deepak Kumar Narendra, FA Prabhat Ranjan
Kumar, FA Ramendra Dutta Sharma, FA Sharma, Hemant, FA Kazmi S Athar Abbas 35050931, FA Gautam
Kataria, SNA Shah Krishna Pragneshkumar were also present in the prize distribution ceremony. All FAs
and SNAs of the Tournament were awarded three federation Tournament Officiating IA/FA Norm
