Women’s World Rapid Champion and Country’s top women player Koneru Humpy qualified for the Women’s Candidates 2022 after fourth and final leg of the Women’s Grand Prix which ended at Gibraltar on Wednesday.
As per FIDE regulations two top players from Women’s Grand Prix qualify for the Candidates and Humpy finished second despite pulled out of the last leg due to the pandemic.

Aleksandra Goryachkina topped the point table of Women Grandprix while Humpy made her fifth consecutive second position in the event. Kateryna Lagno also qualified for the Candidates through Grand Prix route after finishing third as Goryachkina has already qualified for the Candidates as the runner-up of the World championship match in 2020.
