MPL 34th National Under-8 Open & Girls Chess Championship-2022 (Event Codes: 282560/AP/2022 &: 282561/AP/2022) Charvi and Avirat Champions

MPL 34th National Under 8 Open and Girls Chess Championship 2002 organised by Andhra Chess Association under the aegis of All India Chess federation from 9th to 14th May 2022 at KL University (Air-conditioned Hall), Vijayawada. Andhra Pradesh. The Championship was inaugurated by Shri Prabhakar Reddy, IAS, Vice Chairman and managing director, Sports authority of Andhra Pradesh, Shri Pardha Saradhi Varma, Vice Chancellor, KL University, Smt Koneru Siva Kanchan, Secretary, KLEF, KL University, Shri KVV Sarma, President, Andhra Chess Association, Shri Bheemarao, Secretary, Andhra Chess Association, Shri KS Prasad, President, Telangana State Chess association.

263 Players from all the states were participated in the MPL 34th National Under 8 Chess Championship 2022, Avirat Chauhan (1405) from Maharastra was the top seed in open category followed by Safin Safarullakhan (1358) from Kerala and Samaksh Ashok (1342) from Karnataka.

Alankrita Sharma (1451) from Jammu and Kashmir was top seed in MPL 34th National Under 8 Girls Chess Championship 2022. Followed by Charvi A (1291) from Karnataka. She is a current National Under 10 Girls Chess Champion which concluded in Jammu and Kashir last month. Aaradhya Das (1196) from Tripura.

Charvi played in top boards from 4th round. She drew only with Rashi Warudkar of Chhattisgarh and won with all other opponents. She scored ten and half points out of eleven rounds.

In Open category, Top seed Avirat Chauhan from Maharatsra and 8th seed Rahul Ramakrishnan from Pondicherry scored 9.5 each and on better tie break score Avirat Chauhan emerged as Champion. Avirat Chauhan drew with Rahul Ramakrishnan in 5th round and lost to Soni Vivan of Maharastra in 8 round. Rahul lost to Vihaan Anupam Agrawal of Maharastra in 9th round.

All the participants and parents were happy as the venue, accommodation and transport were par excellence. Organiser distributed chocolates and fruit juices to all the players during the championship in the last round.

President of Andhra Chess Association Shri KVV Sarma provided all the necessary support for smooth conduction of Chess Championship at KL University. Cash prize of Rs.2,50,000/- were awarded between top 20 winners along with trophy in each category.

Shri Kanthi Rana Tata , IPS , Police  Commissioner , Vijayawada was the Chief Guest for the prize distribution ceremony. Guest of Honour Shri Vikranth Reddy, Shri KVV Sarma, President Andhra Chess Association, Shri G. Pardha Saradhi Varma, Vice Chancellor, KL University, Shri K V Jwalamukhi, Treasurer, Andhra Chess Association, Shri Akbar Pasha, President, Vijayawada Chess Association, Shri Ravindra Raju, President,  Guntur District Chess Association, Dr Pavan Kumar, Patron, Andhra Chess Association and Shri Hari Kishore, Associate Dean of Sports , KL University were the other dignitaries on the dais.
