National Sub-Juniors 07-08: Koustav and Sanskriti lead

Going to the seventh round of ongoing National Sub-Juniors Championship, two players Koustav Chatterjee and FM Arjun Erigaisi emerged as leaders with 5.5 points. It was rather a peaceful round as games ended in a draw on top 3 boards with the leaders maintaining their positions.

In the eight round, CM Aronyak Ghosh (WES) was able to hold FM Arjun Erigaisi (TEL) to a draw.  
Koustav Chatterjee (ODI) beat his state-mate Neelash Saha (ODI) on board 2. This win made Koustav the sole leader of the tournament. Five players are trailing behind him at the second spot. 
IM Iniyan P. (TN) was held to a draw by Sankalp Gupta (MAH).

Sanskriti Goyal had a dream-run in the Girls Championship. She scored 07/7 points, cruising over all her opponents. Until the 8th round where she was stopped by Nityata Jain (MP). However, Sanskriti’s standing remains unaffected by the loss as she continues to lead the tournament.

Closely behind Sanskriti is WFM Divya Deshmukh of Maharastra (right) on 6.5 points. She was held to a draw by Samriddha Ghosh (WES).
WFM Saina Salonika (ODI) beat Bhagyashree Patil (MAH) on board 3. Saina now shares the second spot with 3 others.
