Tetrasoft Grandmaster Open Tournament underway in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The First-Ever International Grand Master Chess Open Tournament in the state of Telangana had begun in Hotel Marriott on 20th of August.  Known as Tetrasoft Hyderabad Marriott Grand Master Chess Tournament 2019—more than 160 players from across India and other nations, Grand Masters and International Masters are participating in the tournament. The total prize money is Twelve Lakhs Rupees. The Tournament will conclude on 27th  of August at 2 pm with Prize Distribution

To mark the inauguration a symbolic match was played between Grand Master from Russia Savchenko Boris and Bharath Singh Chauhan, Hon. Secretary, All India Chess Federation.

Speaking on the occasion addressing the gathering Bharat Singh Chauhan said India has become the power house of Grand Masters. Currently we have 64 Grand Masters in India. In next three years we will cross 100. India is a Grand Masters country, he declared.

According to Srikanth M, the organizer from Tetrasoft, the first-ever Grand Master Tourney to be held in the state of Telangana comes up with the biggest ever prize money, total prize money of Rs 12 lakh, with first prize of whopping 2.5 lakhs. It is one of the very few chess tournaments to be held in a five star hotel. He informed that the GM open Chess Tournament is being organized after the gap of six years in Hyderabad, the last GM tournament was held in 2013 in undivided Andhra Pradesh.

The tournament is organised by Tetrasoft India, the Provider of Information Technology and Consulting Services in collaboration with South Mumbai Chess Academy and Indian Chess School. Telangana State Chess Association is also actively supporting this prestigious tournament.
