Three golds, one bronze for the Indians at Slovakia was on the back of a strong perormance in the 17th IPCA World Chess Championship.

Woman International Master Jeenitha Anto of Tiruchi won her fifth world title in style with a round to spare. International Master Shashikant Kutwal won the main event for a gold medal showing. Sammarth J Rao who won bronze in the junior got the gold in the blitz junior section.

Shashikant Kutwal was received at the Pune airport when he returned from Slovakia. Joseph D’Souza and R Konde, President and Secretary of the Pune District Chess Association felicitated Shashikant Kutwal at the airport.
