Two Indians In World Women’s Championship Pairing

Fourth seed Dronavalli Harika of Andhra Pradesh and 40th seed Padmini Rout of Odissa will be competing in the FIDE World Women’s Chess Championship commencing at Tehran in Iran next month.
In the opening round, Harika will face Shamima Akter Liza (seed 61) while seed 40 Padmini Rout will take on Elina Danielian (seed 25).
Koneru Humpy’s absence will be missed by the Indian fans in the event commencing Feb 10, 2017. It will run until March 5, 2017.
In the previous World Women championship, Harika was eliminated in the semifinals and there is hope that she will go further ahead this time.
The top seeds are Ju Wenjun (Chn), Anna Muzychuk (Ukr), Kosteniuk (Rus) and Harika (Ind). It will be a straight 64-player knock out.
