Chess is one of the most ancient and intellectual games of Indian origin which is played across the globe irrespective of caste, creed or religion. It is a great leveler uniting people and bringing peace in the world in times of turmoil. It is heartening to note that when every other sport has taken a beating with restrictions after corona pandemic spread across the world, chess has shown great resilience in recent times bringing more players together through online games. World Chess Day is observed by United Nations and FIDE on 20th July every year and let us celebrate this Day with the resolve to promote the game of chess which would go a long way to foster unity and peace among chess fraternity
