WORLD YOUTH U-16 CHESS OLYMPIAD – 2017

The FIDE World Youth Chess Olympiad 2017 organized by Gujarat State Chess Association (GSCA) will take place in Ahmedabad, India from December 10th to December 19th.

Each FIDE member country has the right to send one team of 5 players and 1 captain with free board and lodging.

The tournament shall be run on a 9 round Swiss System. Each match between teams will be conducted on over 4 boards.

Venue: The Karnavati Club

“World Youth Olympiad is a prestigious event. Gujarat is known for its vibrant chess culture, we are looking forward to a grand event,” said Mr Bharat Singh Chauhan, Hon. Secretary, AICF.

“It’s our honour to organize World Youth U 16 Olympiad in Ahmedabad. We welcome players from all over the world to participate and have a great stay,” said Mr Bhavesh Patel, Hon. Secretary, GSCA.

“In footsteps of our beloved PM Narendra Modi who had the vision of each and every kid playing chess to build a better future in India inspired us to organize and create the best infrastructure. With his vision, our GSCA President Mr Ajaybhai Patel thought of organizing the World Youth Olympiad U 16 in Gujarat. It’s being organized in the best club of Gujarat. And Gujarat is known for hospitality and we will live up to the image.” said Mr Ankit Dalal, Join Secretary, GSCA.
