Divya Deshmukh in sole lead at World Cadets Chess 2017

Divya Deshmukh with eight points is in sole lead in the U-12 girls section at the end of the ninth round in the world cadets chess championship 2017 being held at Pocos de Caldas in Brazil.

Divya defeated Annapoorni Meiyappan of the United States in the ninth round on Tuesday. Rakshitta Ravi and Bhagyashree Patil have 5.5 points each.

In the U-12 open section, S. Rohith Krishna is in joint fourth position with 6.5 points. M. Pranesh is behind him with 6 points.

In the U-10 girls section, M. Sahithi Varshini is in joint third position with 6.5 points. B. Savitha Shri has six points.

In the U-10 open section, H. Bharath Subramaniyam is in joint fourth position with 6.5 points. Dev Shah and Shahil Dey have six points each.

In the U-8 girls category, A. N. Shefali is the top placed Indian with 6.5 points. Sneha Halder is behind her with six points.

In the U-8 open section, A. R. Ilamparthi is the top ranked Indian with 6.5 points. Priansh Das and Daaevik Wadhawan have six points each.

Two more rounds remain to be played in the 11-round championship. Tenth round will be played on Wednesday.
