Leaders Georgia beat India by 2.5-1.5 in a close seventh round match of the World Women’s Team Chess Championship at Chengdu, China on April 26, 2015.
Khotenashvili drew Humpy, Javakhishvili drew Harika, Arabidze beat Padmini Rout and Melia drew Soumya Swaminathan. India suffered its fourth defeat and are FIDE President’s nominee seat in this edition.
Poland beat Egypt 3-1 and all other matches ended in 2-2 draws in this round. Two rounds remain to be played.
China held Ukraine 2-2, Armenia were held to a draw by USA 2-2 and Russia only drew Kazakhstan 2-2. Kazakhstan continues to be the most under rated team in this 10-player contest.
Standings (after round seven): 1 Georgia 13; 2 Russia 11; 3 China 9; 4 Ukraine 8; 5 Armenia 7; 6-7. India, Kazakhstan 6 each; 8-9 Poland, USA 5 each; 10 Egypt 0.
