Bhakti Wins Bronze

DSCN3993Incheon, Korea (03 Jul 13) :- Women Grandmaster Bhakti Kulkarni won the bronze medal in the 4th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games at Incheon, Korea today. Playing under IOC flag due to suspension of Indian Olympic Association in Asian Indoor Games, twelfth seeded Bhakti produced an commendable performance to win the bronze medal from the field of players like Grandmasters Hou Yifan, Zhao Xue and Zhu Chen.

In a nail biting final round game, she held her nerve to beat higher seeded International Master Pham Le Thao Nguyen of Vietnam to make the podium finish. She won five games and drew with Xue and only lost to champion Hou Yifan. Xue secured silver .

Meanwhile in the Men’s section Grandmaster Sethuraman S P missed the podium finish by whisker and ranked fourth. Grandmaster Yu Yangyi of China won the Gold while Silver and Bronze secured by Grandamster Salem Saleh of UAE and Grandmaster Ding Liren of China respectively.

The mixed team Rapid and Blitz events will starts tomorrow.
