The smooth run of Indian Contingent continued in the Sixth round of Commonwealth Chess Championships being held at Hotel Citrus, Waskaduwa, Kaluthara, Sri Lanka. In U-8 girls, A. Charvi survived a difficult position against Sethumsa of Sri Lanka to continue her lead. In U-8 open (boys), Rahul Ramakrishnan and V. Aadhya are leading the field with 5 points each. In U-10 Vivan Shah continued his winning spree to score a 6th successive victory. In U-12 girls, Shubhi Gupta is leading with 6 points followed by Sherali Pattnaik who is on 5. In U-12 open, Ethan Vaz and Gautham Krishna share the lead with 5 points each. In U-14 girls Newansa Esandi of Sri Lanka maintained her slender half point lead over Falak Joni Naik of India. In U-14 open section Gaurang Bagwe is leading the field with 5.5 points from 6 games. In U-16 category M Pranesh (6Points) and S.Kanishka(4.5Points) lead the boys’ and girls’ sections. In U-18 category, Kiriella (Sri Lanka) and Soham Kamotra (India) share the lead with 5 points each. In the open section, former National Champion Mithrabha Guha emerged the sole leader by scoring a crushing victory over M R Venkatesh. In women’s section Sakshi Chitlange maintained her lead with 4 Points. In Senior (Above 60 Men and Women) category, Bhagyshree Thipsay leads the tables with 4 Points.”
