Batumi, Georgia – A historic day for Indian chess as four Indian players have advanced to the quarterfinals of the FIDE Women’s World Cup 2025, marking a major milestone in the history of Indian women’s chess.
All four players displayed extraordinary grit and determination, winning their respective Round 4 tie-break playoffs:
- GM Koneru Humpy defeated GM Alexandra Kosteniuk (SUI) 2.5–1.5
- GM Dronavalli Harika defeated GM Kateryna Lagno (FID) 3.5–2.5
- GM Vaishali Rameshbabu overcame IM Meruert Kamalidenova (KAZ) 4.5–3.5
- IM Divya Deshmukh defeated GM Zhu Jiner (CHN) 2.5–1.5
