Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel extended his greetings to the chess community of the country, including Gujarat, on the occasion of International Chess Day, which is being celebrated worldwide on July 20.
Expressing his gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi on this occasion, the Chief Minister said that chess is a passion project for the Prime Minister and due to his support and encouragement to the players, India has reached the top of world chess.
Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel encouraged everyone to play chess by playing a short game of chess with Gujarat’s first Grand Master Tejas Bakre.
Describing the numerous benefits of the game of chess, he said that the game of chess improves problem-solving, concentration, memory, thinking skills and also promotes patience.
Shri Bhupendra Patel congratulated All India Chess Federation Secretary Shri Dev Patel for the brilliant performance achieved by Indian chess players in recent times.
The Chief Minister also congratulated the youngest World Chess Champion, Shri D. Gukesh, and Team India for winning the historic Open and Women’s Olympic Gold Medals.
The Chief Minister also congratulated the four Indian women players who have qualified for the quarter-finals of the ongoing Women’s World Cup 2025 and expressed his wish that Indian player wins the World Cup.
It is worth mentioning that “Every Move Counts” is the theme of International Chess Day 2025. This theme reminds us that, be it on the chess board or in daily life, every move and decision plays an important role in shaping our journey.
