Tashkent (03 Apr 17) :- As expected most of the Indian players sailed smoothly to the second round after registering comfortable victories in the opening round of Standard format of the Asian Youth Chess Championship on Sunday afternoon.

But the shock defeats of medal hopes top seed Savitha Shri in Under-10 Girls, second seed Dev Shah in Under-10 Open and second seed Toshali V in Under-16 Girls diminished the happiness in the Indian camp after the first round matches. As it’s a nine round swiss system championship, there is plenty of time for Indian players to bounce back for finishing at the podium.
