GM Gukesh D awarded Rs 1 crore by All India Chess Federation; GM Koneru Humpy gets Rs 50 lakh for women’s world Rapid title

The All India Chess Federation (AICF) hosted a grand felicitation ceremony in New Delhi on Thursday to honor the remarkable accomplishments of Indian chess grandmasters in recent months.

The event celebrated teenage Grandmaster GM Gukesh D for making history as the youngest-ever undisputed World Chess Champion. It also honored GM Koneru Humpy for winning her second World Rapid Chess Championship and GM Vaishali Rameshbabu for securing a bronze medal at the World Blitz Chess Championship.

Gukesh, the 18th World Champion since 1886, was awarded a cash prize of ₹1 crore for his groundbreaking achievement. His parents graced the ceremony, sharing the proud moment with the chess community.

The AICF also announced ₹50 lakh for Gukesh’s exceptional support team. GM Koneru Humpy received a cash award of ₹50 lakh for her outstanding performance, while GM Vaishali Ramesh babu was awarded ₹20 lakh for her remarkable achievement.
