Gukesh advanced to round 2 with a very convincing victory over IM Teclaf,Pawel from Poland in the tie-breaks. In a complex middlegame, Gukesh ensured that he outcalculated his opponent and comprehensively outplayed him with Black to go 1-0 up in the tie-break. In the second game, Gukesh had an advantage with White, but settled for a draw to ensure that he advanced to round 2 with a scoreline of 2.5-1.5 in the match.
