In a commanding display of skill and teamwork, the Indian Railways Chess Team emerged as the champions of the World Railways Chess Championship 2025, held in Quberon, France. The Indian contingent achieved a perfect score, winning all their matches in this prestigious quadrennial event.
The triumphant team comprised GM Diptayan Ghosh, GM Mitrabha Guha, GM Shyaam Nikhil, GM Visakh N R, IM Neelash Saha, and IM Himal Gusain, under the able guidance of Coach FT Suresh Kumar T J.
Demonstrating remarkable consistency and dominance throughout the tournament, the Indian team outclassed every opponent en route to the title.
This glorious victory further underscores India’s growing stature in world chess and marks yet another proud milestone for Indian Railways, which continues to serve as a nurturing ground for many of the nation’s finest chess talents.
