National Under-07: Amogh and Lakshana emerge winners.

The National U-07 Open and Girls Chess Championship 2018 was held at Bandimane Kalyana Mantapa (AC Hall), TUMKUR, Karnataka between July 16 to July 24, 2018. Organized by Mandya Chess Academy, under the aegis of United Karnataka Chess Association and All India Chess Federation. More than 300 children from various states participated in this championship.

Local boy and 10th seeded Amogh Bisht delivered a scintillating performance to clinch the U-07 Open title. His winning streak fetched him 9.5/11 points. He won the championship with a round to spare. Half-a-point behind Amogh was Maharastra’s Jaivardhan Raj and Ayushman Mohanty of Orissa.

Tamil Nadu’s bright talent Lakshana Subramanian tied for the first place with Kolagatla Alana Meenakshi of Andhra Pradesh. Lakshana captured the U-07 Girls title with a better tie-break score. Meanwhile, Meenakshi and Aishani Pathak secured second and third place respectively.
