Mr Arkady Dvorkovich of Russia is elected new President of FIDE at the General Assembly in Batumi, Georgia.
The other candidate for the post was FIDE Vice-President Georgios Markropoulos, of Greece. Dvorkovich received 103 votes, while Makropoulos secured 78 votes. One vote was announced to be invalid.
Another contender for the post, Grandmaster Nigel Short, of Britain, withdrew his candidacy some minutes shy of the voting procedure.
Newly-elected FIDE president Mr. Arkady Dvorkovich nominated India’s Mr. D.V. Sundar as Vice President of FIDE. 
Mr Bharat Singh Chauhan, Hon’ble Secretary of AICF, has been re-elected as Deputy president of Asian chess federation and as President of Commonwealth Chess Association.
