Bodda Pratyusha of Andhra Pradesh is leading the National Women’s Premier with two full points. She beat the in-form Monnisha and Bhakti Kulkarni in the first two rounds.

The 40th Union Bank of India National Women Premier event is a 12-player all-play-all event that is taking place at Kolkata.

Top seed Tania Sachdev and Swati Ghate, both former champions are in joint second place with 1.5 points. Soumya Swaminathan, Nisha Mohota, Mary Ann Gomes, Ivana Furtado, Bhakti Kulkarni and Padmini Rout are tied for the fourth place with one point.

Kiran Mohanty and Michelle Catherina are on 0.5 points. Monnisha is yet to open her account. This event is back to the all-play-all format after a few years of Swiss format.

This event runs from August 26 to September 5, 2013. It is organised by the Dibyendu Barua Chess Academy and the All Sports Management India. Rathinam Anantharam of Sivakasi (TN) is the chief arbiter. The venue is The Spring Club, Eastern Metropolitan Bypass in Kolkata.

The results (second round): Swati Ghate (LIC) 1.5 drew with Kiran Manisha Mohanty (Odi) 0.5; B. Pratyusha (AP) 2 bt Bhakti Kulkarni (Goa) 1; Padmini Rout (Odi) 1 bt G.K. Monnisha (TN) 0; Nisha Mohta (PSPB) 1 drew with Tania Sachdev (AI) 1.5; Mary Ann Gomes (Ben) 1 drew with Soumya Swaminathan (PSPB) 1; Ivana Maria Furtado (Goa) 1 bt Michelle Catherina (TN) 0.5.
