World Team Chess Championship 2022:Final Day Report

India lost to Spain for the Small Finals (the match for the third place)
The first match ended in a 2:2 draw with Nihal Sarin scoring a win for India over Anton Guijarro and Santos Ruiz Miguel scoring for Spain against Sasikiran Krishnan. The rest of the games ended in fighting draws.
The second match also ended in a 2:2 tie with draws in all four games. Vidit Gujrathi drew against Santos Latasa, Nihal Sarin drew against Anton Guijarro, SL Narayanan drew against Alexie Shirov and Abhijeet Gupta drew against Miguel Santos. The tie lead the match to enter into a blitz tiebreak.
Spain beat India in a nail-biting blitz tiebreak with wins scored by Anton Guijarro and Santos Latasa and the match ended 3-1 in Spain’s favour.
India finished 4th in the World Team Chess Championship and SL Narayanan bagged bronze medal for his performance on the third board.
