Final Report:World Youth Chess Championship 2022 Mamaia,Romania from September 5 to September 17,2022

World Youth Chess Championship for the age groups Under 18 (Boys and Girls),Under 16 (Boys and Girls) and Under 14(Boys and Girls) for the year 2022 were held at Mamaia,Romania from September 5 to September 17,2022.

Indian squad consisted of  19 players .GM Shyam Sundar and WIM Bhagyashree Thipsay accompanied the teams as Official Coaches.

India won two Gold Medals one by Pranav Anand in Boys Under 16 and one by  Illamparth A.R. in Boys under 14.

Indian Federation also won the Trophy for the Best performing country in World Youth Chess Championship.

Details of Final Ranking and performance of Indian players in the above Championships are as under-

Under 18  Boys–

There were 109 participants  in the section. Top three  rankings were

 Soham Kamotra of India seeded 20th scored 7/11 and finished 14th  and gained 1.4 FIDE rating.

 Under 18  Girls–

There were 79 participants in the section. Top three  rankings were

Kanishka S. of India seeded 68th scored 7.5/11 and finished 6th  and gained 282 points in her rating.

Rakshita Ravi of India seeded 4th scored 7.5/11 and finished 8th and lost 19.4 rating points.

Rindhiya V.of India seeded 58th scored 6/11 and finished 25th  and gained 182.8 points in her rating.

Bhagyashree Patil of India seeded 37th scored 5/11 and finished 46th  and lost 48.4 points in her rating.

Susmita Bhowmick of India seeded 79th scored 3.5/11 and finished 74th  and gained 51.6 points in her rating.

 

Under 16  Boys–

There were 111 participants  in the section. Top three  rankings were

Pranesh M  of India seeded 2nd scored 8/11 and finished 5th and  gained 4.6 rating points in his rating.

Harshad S of India seeded 34th scored 6.5/11 and finished 24th  and gained 10.2 points in his rating.

Krishnan Ritvik  of India seeded 32nd  scored 6.5/11 and finished 28th  and gained  11.2 points in his rating.

 

Under 16  Girls–

There were 87 participants in the section. Top three  rankings were

Pragnya H.G. of India seeded 50th scored 7.5/11 and finished 8th  and gained 189.2 points in her rating.

Amulya Guruprasad of India seeded 76th scored 7.5/11 and finished 14th  and gained 256.4 points in her rating.
